Winter Reflection

As I embrace the start of 2024, I am excited to reflect on what was, learn from what went well or what didn’t, and think about what I’d like to do more or less of in the future. The vast horizon is vibrating with abundant opportunities, surprises, and experiences.

I appreciate the practice of having a word and motto for the year. It helps me focus on what is most important and ground myself when challenges arise. I have also created vision boards for the last two years but decided not to do one for 2024. It worked well in 2022, but the vision board process felt stale and forced for 2023.

I’m doing my year-end review and selecting a word and motto. By the time you read this, I hope to complete that process. Right now, my ideas are still percolating. Look for an upcoming blog post to discover where I land.

I am deeply grateful to you and the connection we share. I wish you a happy, healthy, and joy-filled New Year!

New Year, New Vision

Change is all around. Winter weather is here. The holidays have come and gone, and the New Year has arrived. I sense the seasonal pressure for change and a reset. Before moving forward, it’s helpful to reflect. I’m doing this by reading my journals, going through blog posts, reviewing stats, photos, the calendar, and more.

The year-end audit helps me understand what was, so I can future-think and plan for the new year. What will I let go of or embrace? What deserves more time, energy, and attention? Which goals will I pursue? The possibilities are exciting and also, in truth, a bit overwhelming. Only by doing the work will I get clarity.

I need quiet time to think, read, research, and reflect. Then, I’ll create a vision for 2023. Last year was the first time I made a vision board. It was so empowering that I’m doing it again. Elements included were a Word of the Year, a motto, and three big themed buckets with 9 to 12 goals each. With changes in mind, I’m open to altering the vision board process and outcome as needed. What do you want more or less of this year?

Wishing you a happy, healthy, joy-filled, and organized 2023!

Joyful Winter Moments

Winter is upon us, along with a new year. As I write this, a blanket of snow covers the landscape. The trees are bare, and the saturated colors from seasons past are asleep. However, there are some noticeable bright spots even with this quiet winter scape. I delight in discovering the red berries, yellow-green ferns, and deep blue-green pine trees beneath a dusting of snow.

These colorful gifts are tiny moments of joy. What becomes possible when you allow yourself time to pause and notice? Seeking joy is essential with the loss, stress, and uncertainty we’ve endured these last few years of pandemic life. Integrating it into your day builds resilience, brings happiness to darker times, increases your flexibility, and expands your perspective.

This is an excellent time of year to fully embrace the fresh start the New Year brings. How will you prioritize joy? What will you let go of? In what ways will you organize your time, space, and possessions, so they support and honor what you do and who you are? How can I help?

As you begin 2022, my heart and thoughts are with you. I wish you an organized joy-filled New Year!

Reflection and Fresh Start
Reflection and fresh start

What a year we had! 2020 was full of challenges, heartbreak, and silver linings. Who knew that the word of the year would be resilience. I felt it within and saw it all around me. People accomplished amazing things in the face of tremendous adversity. As I say goodbye to the year and reflect on the last twelve months, I feel grateful for the many lessons in patience, creativity, and love that it taught. I am thankful we stayed connected to laugh, cry, brainstorm, support, reflect, celebrate, and organize using platforms like Zoom.

It’s with excitement, anticipation, and some exhaustion that I greet this New Year. What will 2021 hold? Will we gather in person without worry? Will the pandemic get under control? Will we be resilient, creative, and motivated? Will we face loss and challenges by summoning our inner strengths? Will we let go of those things that no longer serve us? Will we lean into projects and opportunities that use the best of who we are? Will we nurture our minds and bodies and also care for the special people in our lives? Will we hold hope close?

The New Year offers a fresh start, a chance to reset, and reframe. I wish you only the best for a happy, healthy, organized, and calm New Year!
