Fall Organizing Giveaway

With kids returning to school, schedules changing, pumpkins appearing, and extracurricular activities in full swing, fall prompts us to begin again. As the leaves change colors, it’s a natural cue to rethink the possibilities for better balance, organization, and joy. What motivates you to change? For the Fall Organizing Giveaway, I’ve put together some great organizing goodies and tips to help you shift your focus towards new thoughts and actions.

Fall Organizing Tips

  • Inspiration: What helps you move into the “possibility thinking” mode? Are you inspired by reading, listening to music, enjoying nature, or writing? Figure out what works for you. Dreaming is essential. Carve out time to develop new ways of thinking or doing.
  • Relaxation: Let’s face it. Life is just busy. Take time to stop doing and allow yourself to just be, even if it’s for 15 minutes. Are you a coffee or tea drinker? Sip slowly. Take in the aroma, the warmth, and the pleasure of slowing down enough to appreciate the moments of calm.
  • Organization: It’s amazing how a little organization can go a long way in reducing daily stress. Start small. Identify one area that needs your attention. Maybe it’s your handbag, utensil drawer, or incoming papers. Sort, release, and set-up a system that makes the area flow better. One small stress removed will yield amazing benefits.

The Fall Organizing Giveaway starts on October 2nd.  One winner will be selected on October 8th.  It includes fun stuff that will organize, inspire, relax and delight you.  Continue reading for description and contest rules. The winner will receive everything described below:

It's fall... A new season to enjoy vibrant colors / a variety of gorgeous root veggies / aroma of roasting chestnuts. A time for me to clear the clutter, & to welcome the cooler weather as part of my incentive. The other part ...I know I'll feel better for realizing my intentions. It's those small steps Linda, ... your expertise & loving support.

I love the colors and the coolness. The possibilities for the months ahead!

October 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSusie Kline

@Toni- Like you, I too am enjoying the vibrant fall colors. My favorite days are the sunny ones when the yellow, orange & red leaves glisten in the light. So great to "hear" your voice and have you participate in the conversation.

@Susie- Beautiful colors, cooler weather seem to inspire great things to come. Thanks for joining us here & on Twitter. Sounds like you're having fun looking at my Pinterest boards. Picked a favorite?

My favorite part about Fall are the smells and changing of colors! I love making pumpkin pie from scratch at home and with my pre-school class! I love everything about pumpkins! Eating the seeds, carving them and pumpkin patches! I also like planting bulbs before it gets too cold and they go to sleep and then wake up in the Spring! I also love the harvesting the vegetables in
my garden like lettuce, like I did about 1 hour ago to put in tacos for dinner tonite!

I love two things about fall -- the abatement of ridiculously hot weather and a natural inclination to embrace rituals. During the summer, it's too hot to do anything with verve -- it's like we're all just trying to survive without making any sudden moves. But the autumn's increasingly bracing weather and the back-to-school spirit makes us all feel a little more willing to add some structure and achieve our goals.

October 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJulie Bestry

@Karen- It's wonderful how you're so connected to growing, planting, and nurturing. I can hear the joy in your voice as you write about pumpkins and harvesting. Just lovely, Karen.

@Julie- I often wonder about the influence the change of seasons make in our thoughts and routines. Your terrific description going from the hot, harder to activate summer to the cool, energizing fall, says it all.

Love hearing your thoughts about fall, pumpkins, and re-energizing for the season.

How fun is this! My favorite part of fall is drinking hot apple cider and getting prepared for Thanksgiving and Christmas :-) I try to get things organized/squared away for fall and winter in early September so I can relax and retreat for remainder of the seasons.

I love that I can no long use the weather as an excuse to not get things done INSIDE my house. Here in the midwest, we have a significantly higher amount of rainy days in the fall. Dusting off my project shoes as I type this...

October 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterChristy Lingo

My favorite things about fall are the weather and the beginning of "soup season" (as my husband calls it)! We officially opened up soup season last weekend with a homemade chicken leek soup, accompanied by sourdough bread and wine! Fall also "allows" me to spend more time inside working on things around the house and my favorite hobby, scrapbooking!

I'm addicted to Pinterest and particularly enjoy your Office, Kitchen, Zones and Anything Group boards!

October 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKathy Molina

@Elisa- Here, here on the hot apple cider. I was just thinking about making some last night. You've inspired me to get on it!

@Christy- I can see the "project shoes" glistening now. You go girl!

@Kathy- "Soup season!" What a lovely way to think about the changing weather.

Between the hot cider, the soup and the shoes, I'm feeling even more joyful about autumn. I'm loving all the positive energy everyone is sharing about this beautiful season.

Fall gives you a renewed reason to begin and change things; to be motivated, inspired, organize and to do more. The vibrancy of the color is so beautfiul

Just signed up for your e newsletter.

The best thing about fall, without a doubt, is the sound of silence in the house when I come home from work and realize that the a/c did not come on because it is FINALLY cooling down! Has been a very long hot summer in SoCal...

October 4, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterrachel

What a great giveaway. I am so there! Go to the US all the time so could use any of these GC!

In the fall, I look forward to the beautiful fall colors, the cooler temperatures and a general "slowing down" of things as we move most of our activities indoors.

October 4, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLesa

My favorite thing about fall is crisp weather and the leaves changing colors.

Ever since I was a child, as Fall enters I become energized. There's a new fragrance to the breeze and a different quality of light too. Fall has always represented new beginnings for me...a new year on the Jewish calendar, the kids back to school, new cozy sweaters, time to start making warming soups, the colors of the changing leaves. My birthday is in October, and my anniversary too, making Fall is my favorite season!

October 4, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLisa Joy Tuttle

Great giveaway!

My favorite thing about fall is trying out new crockpot recipes, the cooler weather and not using my a.c. as often! haha

@Lesa- Interesting how the cooler weather can focus us on inside projects and activities. I am feeling that transition too.

@Susan- Like you, I'm also enjoying the "crisp" feel to fall and the gorgeous display of changing colors. So glad you like the "Organized Zones" Pinterest board. It's fun to visualize organized areas for specific areas of doing.

@Lisa- Lovely how October is your celebration month. Wishing you a joy-filled birthday and anniversary. Enjoy the energized mood that this season brings you.

@Nicole-Lynn- Yes! The trusty crockpot. We just replaced our decades-old one with a newer version. Like you, I'm looking forward to testing out some new recipes...maybe some nice soups? Wonderful that you've joined the blog subscription via e-newsletter! Stay in touch.

Great hearing all the continuing energy and enthusiasm for the autumn season. I just know that amazing things will transpire for each of you in the coming months.

Its all about the baby steps! Organizing your purse may be considered a small or big project, but it really does ease our stress. In the fall its about change occuring and that is what organizing is about - baby steps to change!

October 7, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEllen Delap

Ellen- Those baby steps are the key to lasting change. It's so easy to NOT do when we overwhelm ourselves with too much. So doing one small thing at a time is a way to both encourage more action, appreciate success, and move forward to our goals. It's always wonderful to hear your "voice." Thank you for joining in the conversation.
