Soul-Full Possibilities

@2011 Photo by Linda SamuelsThe possibilities are tremendous when we help each other. Great accomplishments and changes can occur. Who knew that one pair of shoes could make such a difference? I am so excited to share an eco-friendly opportunity, which helps people in need and saves the environment by collecting, distributing, and recycling new or gently worn shoes. You can declutter and do some good at the same time.
Oh, So Organized! is participating in the NAPO Challenge, which is the result of a partnering effort with Soles4Souls (“S4S”), a Nashville-based charity that provides shoes to adults and children in need. Since 2005, S4S has given away over 14 million pairs of shoes to people in over 127 countries, including the United States. “With tragedies such as the earthquakes in countries like Haiti and Japan, on top of the enormous need elsewhere, we can use the estimated 1.5 billion shoes taking up space in closets of ordinary people to change the world one pair at a time,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls.
Oh, So Organized! is sponsoring a shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls through November 11, 2011. We are collecting gently worn shoes. So far, several Oh, So Organized! clients have edited their shoe collections, increased their closet space, and felt good that they donated to this worthy cause. Tax-deductible receipts are available. Would you like to participate? There are several options below:

Recycling and proper disposal of waste is a simple way of saving the environment. This practice won't take too much of your time.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts about recycling for a better environment. It's true that we can all take small steps that will make a big difference. The Soles4Souls shoe drive is one path for reuse and recycling efforts.
More shoes collected for Soles4Souls! We're up to 57 pairs as of October 23rd. Looking forward to hearing from you. There are many options for donating. Contact me anytime to make special arrangements if the ones listed in the post don't work for you. linda@ohsoorganized.com
At our NAPO Westchester meeting tonight, my organizing colleagues brought shoes to donate to Soles4Souls. I just finished organizing and counting them...another 71 pairs. Thank you so much, my wonderful friends!
Wonderful client donated 6 more pairs today. Thank you (you know who you are!) Total of 134 pairs and still collecting.
Hi Linda!
Thank you so much for sharing this. We're really glad that you have collected so many pairs of shoes already! Thank you for telling your readers about Soles4Souls and this opportunity to help others. We really appreciate your work.
Thank you, Rebecca for taking the time to stop by. I am thrilled to participate with Soles4Souls to help such a wonderful, worthy cause. I love being part of something larger. It's easy to think that small things don't matter, but in this case, each pair of shoes donated becomes an opportunity for someone else to thrive. I'm more than glad to help and to share the good work that you're doing with others.
Hey Everyone!
Just a reminder that TODAY- Sunday, November 6th from 10am-2pm, I'll be collecting your unwanted shoes for Soles4Souls at 202 Cleveland Drive in Croton on Hudson. Come stop by, say "hi," grab a treat, an "Organizing One-Liner," and drop off your shoes.
Look for the silver and purple balloons on the "202" mailbox.
My gratitude goes out to all of the wonderful friends and neighbors that generously donated their shoes today. With your help, we collected 167 pairs in 4 hours. I'll be collecting shoes through 11/11/11, so if you missed stopping by today, feel free to make other arrangements with me. Thank you again for your help. "Changing the world, one pair at a time."
There's still time to donate your unwanted shoes. I've received many more pairs for Soles4Souls since Sunday. We're now up to 371 pairs. Feel free to drop shoes by anytime by Friday, November 11th. Just leave them by the front door.
Thank you again to all the wonderful, generous people that have donated so far.
I'm so excited! We just finished counting and preparing the rest of the shoe donations. The grand total is 537 pairs of shoes. Thank you, thank you to all the generous family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and clients that donated shoes to Soles4Souls during this one month long shoe drive. Additional thanks to friends extraordinaire Joanne Aldeborgh, Judy Lewis, Shar Bass, Steve Krisky, Johanna Bard and Susan Lasky for your help with counting, sorting, packing and transporting the shoes. And last but not least, thank you to my husband, Steve who provided moral support, patience and braun.
To everyone that participated, please feel good that you helped to make the shoe drive a great success and in turn helped a wonderful charity. Thank you again.
Just returned from dropping off 537 pairs of shoes (in forty 30-gallon bags) to Manhattan Mini Storage in NYC. They donated a storage unit to the NAPO-NY chapter for it's members to drop their donations. From there Junkluggers has donated trucks to pick-up shoes from Manhattan Mini and transport them to the Soles4Souls NJ warehouse.
Huge thanks to Johanna Bard, Susan Lasky and Joanne Aldeborgh for helping to pack and transport the hundreds of shoes. You made it fun and also came up with some great ideas to make the process run smoothly.
And to all those that cleared out cubbies and closets to donate their shoes, take a moment to stop and feel good for the wonderful gift you've given to others in need. I'm most grateful for you.
